Format MF-0

all data from all MIDI channels is combined into a single track. Only one added value is lost here, namely being able to name the individual tracks. However, by merging the tracks, this format has the advantage that it can be played back by all keyboards and sequencers without any problems. This format is the absolute standard and must be readable by any midi-capable device.

MIDI Format 1

have separate tracks. The original channel and track assignments of the original file are preserved. This format can be better read by PCs with sequencer programs due to the track and channel separation, thus enabling easier operation. It is particularly suitable if you want to edit a midi file.

GM
General MIDI runs on all devices, but sometimes with limitations in the sound area.
GS
The GS format is an extension of the GM format from the ROLAND company. Specially adapted for ROLAND devices.
XG
The XG format (Extended General MIDI) is an extension of the GM format from YAMAHA. Specially adapted for YAMAHA end devices.
XF
XG is an extension of the GM standard and only suitable for Yamaha devices. XF adds chord/score display to XG.
TYROS
Special format for Yamaha Tyros devices. Compatibility with other devices is not guaranteed.

KORG PA SERIE

The adaptation of the Pro-MIDIS to the new extensions is completely finished. All Pro-Midis are now also available in the format of the Korg Pa series.

Our ProV midi files (GM, GS, XG and XF plus Tyros and Korg PA adaptations) include anarranged vocalist trackon channel 16.

This means: In conjunction with a vocalist (internally in the keyboard and externally), use this track to control and thus generate the correct vocal harmonies (2nd voice, 3rd voice, etc.).

For Yamaha devices, the VH preset "Vocoder XG" is loaded at the beginning of the song via system command, VH channel 16 is set and Vocal Harmony is activated (indicated by the illuminated VH button on the surface). When singing, the correct harmonies are now automatically generated at the correct points.

A distinction is made between playbacks, Pro-Playbacks and ProV-Playbacks.

Playbacks are created based on MIDI files and are produced exclusively from synthetic samples. (For example, VST plug-ins are used to provide a virtual instrument that is then used to generate sound).

As a final step, the playback is mixed and mastered by hand. The difference is that no macros or machine processes are used for this.

The basic difference in creating a pro playback is that on the one hand the underlying MIDI files may be reprogrammed for higher-quality playback production and that real instruments (e.g. guitars) may be used in addition to the synthetic sounds if required.

ProV backing tracks are basically Pro backing tracks with additional backing vocals added.
